The Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) code allows MTN subscriber to access their NIN information from your mobile device. This is the fastest and most common method. However, If your SIM card is blocked or inactive, you won’t be able to access the USSD service. Here are steps to follow on how to check NIN on MTN using USSD:

  • Dial *346# on your MTN line
  • Select “NIN Retrieval” (option 1).
  • Enter your MTN number and press send
  • Lastly, enter your name and press send
  • If your NIN is linked to your mobile number, it will display on your screen. If it is not linked, you will be prompt to link your NIN to your mobile number.

Note, that using this service attracts a N20 (twenty naira) fee which will be deducted from your airtime balance.

2. Using MyMTN App

Another easy way to check your NIN on MTN is by using the MTN App. This method require internet connection. If you do not have the MTN App before. You can installed from app store or play store. And then, follow these steps:

  • Log in with your phone number and password.
  • Click on “NIN” on the menu.
  • If your NIN is linked to your mobile number, it will display on your screen. If it is not, you will be prompt to link your NIN to your mobile number.

3. Using MTN website

Another way to check your NIN status on MTN is through MTN website. Following these steps:

  • Visit the MTN website
  • Click on “Check Your NIN Status.”
  • Enter your phone number and click “Proceed.”
  • You’ll receive an OTP via SMS. Enter it on the website and click “Verify.”
  • Your NIN and its linking status will be display.
