Things Needed in Children’s Church

Children’s church aspires to teach young ones Biblical truths that will help them make godly choices, There are lot of things needed in children’s church to encourage them to learn, keep them save, fun, and creative. The children church help kids spiritually and morally strong in a world of compromise and pursue God’s plan and purpose for their lives.

Children church should have neat floors and walls without sharp edges, enough size classrooms with adequate space to fit the amount of children for each age group with appealing designs such as: charts, pictures, and puppets to illustrate Bible stories and concepts that portray the message you want to pass. For the safety of every child, ventilation, lighting, classroom size, furniture, equipment, and supplies should be a priority to be consider in children’s church.

1. First Aid kit

Equipped first aid kit is important for treating minor bumps and scrapes that might occur during playtime. Always check if kit items have expired, the items should include: bandage in different sizes with fun designs to attract the kids, antiseptic wipes for cleaning minor cuts, safety pins for holding bandages, wound closure strips, tweezer, Aloe Vera gel, calamine lotion, thermometer, scissors, disposable latex-free gloves, small waste disposable bags, blanket and so on. Keep the first-aid kit in an accessible location but out of reach of children and label for easy identification.

2. Choosing Good Curriculum

Choosing the right curriculum for children’s church can feel overwhelming, but it’s an important decision. When selecting a curriculum, first thing is that, it should align with the church goal doing this will help narrow down appropriate curriculums, also consider age and ensure inclusivity. It should be base on Biblical foundation with engaging teaching to keep the kids excited.

Any selected curriculum should be user- friendly and provide guideline like tips and activities for the children teachers. You can also mix and match diverse curriculum or create yours. Play mat can be a colorful design or decoration that can stir up imagination and intellectual development. Though their might be preference among age groups when choosing mat design. Get a washable, cushioned, non- toxic and flame-retardant mat for safety purpose.

5. Musical Instruments

Music is a great way to get kids engaged, regardless of their age. You can get lightweight, colorful and portal instrument for the children and select instrument that will be easy to learn. Avoid instrument that the level of noise won’t overwhelm the church for the sake of young ears. The use of instrument and music will aid dancing and making the church fun, through this process each child will be able to discover their musical choice. Children will be able to express their creativity using musical skill, improvise and compose.

6. Furniture

Choose furniture that are welcoming and must meet standard recommendations for each age group.  Repair missing pieces or rough edges. When selecting furniture, equipment, and supplies consider the age, size of the classroom, and standard recommendations for each age of children within the church.  Use rounded edge furniture and smooth surface to prevent bumps for any child,  provide different seating option for different purposes. Choosing boards for children’s church can be interesting! It is a fantastic way to engage young minds, spark creativity, and share important messages. It can be flannel board, magnetic board, dry erase board, cork board where children can express their art work, peg board or chalk board. You can decorate your boards with colorful borders, ribbons, or even fabric to match your current theme or Bible story to keep it attractive. Keep the decorations age-appropriate and avoid using potentially harmful materials.

9. Television and DVD

Television and DVDs can be use strategically to complement program to bring about visual Bible stories and concept, and strive to create a rich and engaging experience for all children in church by choosing DVDs with positive message. It is crucial to limit screen time so that TV won’t restrict active engagement and critical thinking of the children and it should be use  thoughtfully and strategically to ensure maximum benefit and minimal drawback

10. Age Appropriate Toys

Toys can improve space where children learn, have fun, a sense of community. It can include puzzle, board games, building blocks, play dough, puppet theater, musical instrument, coloring books and so on. Choose toys manufacture from safe materials with smooth surface, age appropriate and in good condition.

Children needs full and undivided attention from their teachers, getting all this things for them can make learning fun for them and give them ability to remember things that their teachers  taught them.
