Founded on 4 October 1962, as the University of Northern Nigeria, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (named after Sardauna of Sokoto, Alhaji Sir Ahmadu Bello, the first premier of Northern Nigeria) is a federal government research university in Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria. Currently, the school has two campuses in Zaria:
- Main Campus in Samaru
The Samaru campus houses the administrative offices and the faculties of physical sciences, life sciences, social sciences, arts and languages, education, environmental design, engineering, medical sciences, agricultural sciences and research facilities.
- Annex in Kongo
The Kongo campus hosts the faculties of Law and Administration. The Faculty of Administration consists of Accounting, Business Administration, Local Government and Development Studies and Public Administration Departments. Additionally, the university is responsible for other institutions and programmes at other locations.
Ahmadu Bello University also runs a Pre-Degree programme in Funtua a few kilometres from the main campus owned by the university.

Ahmadu Bello University Cut off Marks
= Candidates who have been searching for the ABU Zaria courses/departments and their cut off marks, here is it.
= The ABU Zaria general cut off marks is 180. However, some courses are more competitive than others, this means that UTME/DE candidates seeking admission into these courses need to score above 200 to ensure they secure admission into these courses.
= Candidates seeking admission into Medicine (O’ Level result with one sitting only) and Nursing are expected to score a minimum of 220 JAMB Score to secure admission into ABU Zaria.
= Candidates seeking admission into Mass Communication, Common Law, Pharmacy, Anatomy, and Physiology are expected to score 200 in JAMB.
= These courses are a bit competitive, so candidates seeking admission into Computer Science, English Language, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Geology, all engineering courses except Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering should score nothing less than 190 in JAMB.
ABU Zaria Admission Requirements:
= Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 credit passes in relevant subjects which must include English Language and mathematics at GCE O’Level, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents at not more than 2 sittings.
= Candidates with Teachers Grade II (TC II) with passes at credit or merit levels in conjunction with credit passes in relevant subjects at GCE, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents may be considered. No subject may be counted at both TC II and GCE O/Level, WASCE, SSCE, NECO or approved equivalents.
= The candidate must make at least 200 pass mark in JAMB to qualify for internal screening by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Ahmedu Bello University Course Requirements
Looking at the Ahmadu Bello University accredited courses and requirements, the requirements are outlined piecemeal for you right below:
The requirements for each course are almost the same as Ahmadu Bello University does not allow any student without compulsory credits in English Language and Mathematics in their O’level admission.
- O’level: Candidate must possess a minimum of five (5) subjects passed at not more than two sittings with at least passes in two of the most relevant and important subjects to the course at credit level in SSCE, GCE, WASCE, and NECO or other approved equivalents.
- UTME/Direct Entry Candidates who chose Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria as their first Choice of institution
- UTME Candidate must have a minimum of 200 in the UTME.
- Both UTME and Direct Entry candidates should note that Credit in Mathematics are for all Science Based Courses.
OTHER MISCELLANEOUS REQUIREMENTS:
- Candidates must be at least 16 year of age
- Candidates must obtain an acceptable score at the compulsory University screening exercise which is popularly called Post UTME.
