Fastest Way To Link NIN With Your MTN and Airtel Number
All network operators in Nigeria have been directed to update their subscriber records so their National Identification Numbers (NINs) are captured. To link NIN with your MTN and Airtel number, you need to first check if your MTN number is already linked with NIN
1. MTN Users
To link your your NIN with your MTN SIM using USSD, follow the steps below:
Link NIN With Your MTN
- Dial *785# using the MTN you wish to perform the linking on.
- Type 1 for “Enter your 11-digit NIN” and send.
- Enter your 11–digit NIN and send.
Wait for the network to give a confirmation of your submission. You may get a message saying “Network error.”
Don’t panic if you do! Just wait for some time and try it again.
To link your NIN with your MTN phone number, carry out the following steps:
- Visit https://mtnonline.com/nim/ using your phone or computer
- Complete the NIN linking form by entering your name, phone number, NIN and email address.
- Submit the form as soon as you’re done.
- Wait from feedback from the network in a couple of days.

Download the App from Google Playstore.
Minors are not issued with the National Identity cards until they attain the age of 16
- Open the app and log in with your security PIN.
- Tap on ‘My Devices’ button on the bottom right part of your dashboard on the app.
- Tap on ‘Add Mobile Number’ and input the mobile phone number you wish to link.
- Next input the OTP sent to that mobile phone number.
- You can link up to seven (7) mobile phone numbers.
2. Airtel Users
To link your NIN to your Airtel phone number, follow the steps below:
- Dial *121# on the Airtel line you wish to link.
- Type 1 for “NIN Capture” and send
- Enter your 11–digit NIN and send.
Wait for the message confirming your submission. If you get an error, just wait for some time and try again.
Alternatively, visit https://www.airtel.com.ng/nin on your phone or computer and complete the online registration form to link your NIN to your Airtel line.
